Nice looking doesn't cut wellThis set looks great. The case is well made, looks expensive, everything inside is nice and shiny. Unfortunately I care way less about all of that than how well the scissors actually work. And this is exactly where this product falls short. Maybe I'm just spoiled, because I had such a great set before that I lost and don't even the remember what make it was, but compared to my old ones, these scissors are dull, they sometimes don't close smooth as you're cutting with them and you have to push your nail against the scissors otherwise they don't cut, just slide over your nail. Very disappointing. I'll take them to get sharpened, maybe that'll help, but that's not what I expect to have to do with a brand new pair of scissors.2Excellant Manicure SetFirst off, I bought this set for my son since he is going away to college. There were a few things I was looking for in a set and had trouble finding what I wanted, until I saw this one. Things I wanted were, finger and toe nail clippers, sharp pointed scissors, and tweezers. It was almost impossible to find that combination (the tweezers were the piece nobody else had in their sets). I had actually just ordered a different 5 pc [more expensive] set by someone else, and as soon as I did, this showed up in the "Items other people viewed". After reading the reviews, I cancelled the other order and ordered the 3 Swords set. I'm glad I did.This set feels durable and well made. I tried the clippers and they are nice and sharp. And the tweezers that came with the set are also sharp. Not like those tweezers that have child safety tips that are rounded. You can't dig anything out with those. This set of tweezers has a nice angled cut and are sharp along the complete edge. My son didn't care what set he got but I did. It's amazing how many different situations a college student will need these tools for, and not just taking care of nails. This set looks like it will stand up well to college life and the case that they came in is top notch. A nice sturdy zippered case that feels like it can take a good beating. It was a little bit more than I wanted to pay, but I feel like we definitely got our money's worth.5TOENAIL CLIPPER BROKE UPON FIRST USE! (UPDATED TWICE)I was influenced by the raving reviews on here, but wonder how many are fake!I bought two similar sets, one for my husband and one for me. His will be a Christmas gift, so it has not been opened yet. With mine (which is the one pictured in this review), the toenail clipper fell apart upon first use. I was able to repair it myself because the tiny metal peg just needed to be placed back between the two parts to operate it. However that took about half an hour of maneuvering but I was determined to fix it. After I fixed it I decided to not use it right away, and tried the smaller clip on my finger nails. It worked okay, but that also needed a lot of pressure to trim my nails. So, as others have indicated, it s a bit of a dull blade.For the price point on these manicure sets that claim they re made in Germany, where they usually DO make superior steel implements like this, it is rather lame. I m giving this two stars because the zippered case and the way the items securely fit into it, is a nice feature.Also, the nail file, cuticle pusher, two nail scissors and tweezers seem just fine. The scissors seem to function fine so far, like trimming my eyebrows (I know that s not the best way to trim them, but it works for me).Anyway, right after I try the newly repaired toenail clippers, I ll update this review I ll wait till my husband receives his gift too. If there are any additional problems or my toenail clippers fall apart again, I ll be sure to downgrade this review to one star.I would never buy this brand again, and hopefully will make the Amazon return deadline, if needed! Even though HIS clippers did not break yet, he says they are so dull that he won t use them.Also, as you can read above, the manufacturer replied to my original review, apologized, and suggested I contact the company separately. I then replied with a request for the best contact info/email to reach them. I am still waiting for their reply. Meanwhile, my return window may be expired by now. My only regret is that I did not purchase one of the larger sets that included 2 types of nippers. This set does not include nippers.4Scissors gets rusty.7 months after purchase the main scissors started to get rust on the edges. They were never under wet conditions or anything similar. The quality of the product is really good, so much so that as I have previously stated I have continued to buy them. Great German quality, and machined well so it functions perfectly. I like that the cases come in different colors and textures so you can add a bit of personalizing to your grooming kit. It's put together really well and it's something that will last for a long time if you take care of it.5This is a great Travel Kit This is a good quality, compact kit that is great for travelling. I would have given this 5 stars but the nail file blade is only a little over 2 1/4" long (total length ~3 3/4") it could have easily been an 1" longer and still fit in the case. Also my favorite finger nail clippers are the Revlon with the (R) on the handle (2 1/4+"). Great size, solid and last forever. The clippers here are about 2" long and feel a little small in my hands. That being said, if you need a great travelling kit, you can't go wrong with this one, Kit looks nice and very well made.. 4Stick to the all metal setsThe metal parts are certainly quality. The clippers cut right through my thick nails like butter, much better than the cheap ones you get at the store. The problem? The plastic. The plastic that holds the file feels cheap and like the file could fall out at any moment. The other plastic is soft and ineffective, especially compared to metal versions I have used in the past. All that said, I do really like this set. It's just disappointing that a quality company like 3 Swords would use crappy plastic.4Sturdy and made wellI bought this set for my grandson's 14th birthday. He's quite athletic, and works out often. As most young teen guys, I think he is less concerned with his grooming than his elders would like to see. So I'm hoping having his own set of grooming tools will encourage him in that direction. In any case I expect him to have this set for all or at least most of his life. They appear well made, the case is sturdy black, and the set arrived within the time frame given. I have no real complaints, except that the construction of the case was not as I expected... the stitching is bold, where I thought it would be subtle (the thread used is white on a black case). I did not see that in the picture. But, we will keep the set nonetheless.4great kit I bought this kit for my husband for christmas and so that he'd stop using my stuff. He liked it, although he probably has no idea what half of those things are for. Yesterday I tried a few "tools" from the kit myself and was really impressed. The scissors are very sharp, and work perfectly on cuticles, clippers are very sharp too, and the tweezers are very precise. It is so hard to find cuticle scissors that work, even if you spend $20 on them at a pharmacy, they usually are horrible, so I really appreciate how good these are. I like the quality of all items including the pouch. It is not luxurious by any means, but for the price, it's a good value. 5Very DissatisfiedI have not had this manicure set very long and already both nail clippers are dull and barely cut through my nails, even when I apply a lot of pressure to them. This set gets a good rating , but my personal experience with this product is extremely disappointing! I have a cheap drug store set of clippers that cuts my nails easier and more cleanly than these do.1German QualityThe set is made in Germany of Solingen steel. We have had this particular set for over a year, the other one is 25 years old. The 1 year old one is still as sharp as when we bought it and it gets used by three family members on weekly basis. Even the case is still in immaculate shape. It is a purchase one will not regret. The cost for the high quality product is almost the same, $4.79 more, than individually sourced items from Walmart or Target; the Chinese and Pakistani products are a few cents less, but their quality is pure garbage.5a GREAT productLove this kit! It has everything I need to keep my fingers and toes neat and hygienic in a small, easy to keep track of case. I have had this kit for more then a month and use it weekly, if not more. The tools are of good quality, feeling strong in my hands. The tools that need to be are sharp, the files work well, and overall I would recommend this great product. I use it mostly at home but it's more then worth the small bit of space it would take in a suitcase for traveling.5
