Customer Reviews

Company is great, scent is okay, but increased UV sensitivity is a big minus Moisturizes well, but it has a scent I don't care for. It's not bad, I just would have preferred something unscented. Worth trying though! Alba Botanica is a cruelty-free company that offers affordable products. I'll probably just try their unscented lotion next. It's worth noting that this lotion apparently increases sensitivity to UV rays, so it's not great for the summer when you're out in the sun. 3Waxy and Thick But Not Any More Moisturizing Than Original FormulaMuch waxier and thicker than the original formulation without additional moisturizing benefits. When you get low, the thickness does not let the pump pick up product well. You'll be left with an inch of product stuck at the bottom. And you have to bang on the bottle to get it out. This lotion is also unscented. However, the unscented scent smells slightly acidic and is unpleasant. My husband hates it when I use this lotion.I would not purchase this lotion again. I would 100% recommend the original formula though. It is more emollient, less waxy, spreads more easily, and highly moisturizing. The scent is light and is just there to mask any unpleasantness. Nothing perfumey or overpowering. The fragrance also dissipates very quickly. The whole family likes it. Try the original...Alba Botanica Very Emollient, Original Body Lotion, 32 Ounce. Don't bother with this.3Best Lotion EVER! I've recently started trying to switch to more natural products but lotion hasn't been an option till now. From my experience natural body lotions are more liquid than solid and therefore hard to put on. This is not the case with the Alba Very Emollient. This lotion is thick and smells divine. I look forward to using it daily. I've never looked forward to using lotion. The consistency is thick and the smell is a mixture of floral and almond. It goes on easy and is not greasy at all. That's my complaint about many lotions. It's either easy on and doesn't work or it's too thick and greasy. This lotion is just right. I don't think I'll ever buy any other lotion. My skin is soft, no razor bumps, no dry elbows, no ashy skin, just soft and supple like lotion should be. This lotion also has AHA in it which is an anti aging skin smoothing product and so I tried this lotion on my face(I have dry skin) and it didn't break me out, or make me an oil slick. It was gentle enough for the face too!A surprising side effect. I don't know if this is normal but I use this after I shave. The hair is growing back slower and slower since I've started using it. It didn't say anything about this when I bought it. But no joke since I've been using this daily I only have to shave my legs once a week. Then it's barely stubble. I don't know if Alba meant for this product to do that but I love it. I've never loved a side effect before either lol 5AMAZING! We were using the Shea Moisture s Omega-something Lotion for a while until we found small slivers of plastic/crystal-like material were starting to become prominent and annoying.I wanted an ethical product that worked really well without smelling like chemicals or feeling a stinging sensation when put on after shaving my legs. THIS PRODUCT IS PERFECT! It makes your skin so soft for hours and has a really light smell, almost like baby powder. Doesn t leave a greasy feel either. Definitely found a new favorite! 5NOT unscented - smells terrible I love alba lotions, but without scent. Reviews said that this is unscented, but it most definitely is not. Linalool is listed as the scent, and it smells like cheap lotions that hospitals use. It's hideous. The lotion itself is nice and moisturizing, which is the only reason I'm giving it two stars, but the scent is so unbearable I am throwing it out. BTW, I even tried putting sandalwood oil in there just so I could use it without gagging, but that wouldn't even hide the odor. 2The absolute best lotion I have found yet The absolute best lotion I have found yet!! Very thick and rich without being heavy or greasy. The lotion moisturizes even the driest skin quickly and keeps the eczema at bay on my youngest son. A little goes a long way and the scent is barely noticeable. Colorado is a very dry climate and is a lot for our Midwestern skin to acclimate to. This lotion has made all of the difference. 5A must have for dry winter skin! Every winter my skin gets so dry and I battle red cracked skin on my hands and will get various rough patches on my body. My 3 year old daughter and 5 month old son have the same problem. We've tried so many products such as Eucerin and coconut oil but nothing really worked. Most would provide short term relief and were just too heavy. However, after only several days of using this product I have seen a major improvement in all of our skin! My infant son had a few rough patches on his upper arm and thigh. After two days they are completely gone and he is back to silky smooth baby skin. I've been using on my hands every time I wash them and they are so much softer already. The best part is that this product is lightweight and not greasy. Unlike some of the other intensive lotions this one absorbs quickly and is easy to apply. This is my new go to product for dry skin. 5Im trying to avoid all unnecessary ingredients. SecondRating lotion is a very very subjective matter. In fact, the very cheap over the counter Vaseline lotion will and can probably do the same effect as the top $200 lotion. What attracted me to this lotion is its ingredients. Im trying to avoid all unnecessary ingredients. Second, I used an organic and all natural lotion in the past, while, the lotion itself is great, it had a strong orangey smell and interesting texture.I like this bottle b/c its rather large, it smells decent and the skin absorbs well. I dont like the lotion which it feels like im literally putting oil on my face, or the ones that absorb well b/c its like water. This is the in between.5Love this lotion!I have been pondering a purchase of Alba Botanica Lotion for a while. In the store it is twice as expensive as it is on Amazon. I added it to my subscribe and save, to save a little bit more.I live in Minnesota, winters are cold and dry; summers are humid and hot. My skin needs lotion everyday no matter what. I don't like to use products with parabens, (I think they aggravate my keratosis pilaris.) This lotion is very moisturizing, and does not leave a greasy feel. It is light enough for hot summer days, and rich enough for dry winter days. I have even used it as a facial moisturizer when I am in a hurry. There is no scent at all (as the name suggests...) and it is very emollient.I highly recommend this to anyone.5Disappointing I had used Alba Botanica body lotion for a decade. The bottles last and the product was lightweight, absorbent and improves skin because of the active ingredients they one had, including alpha hydroxy acids and antioxidants. When I saw the "new" bottle in a larger duo-pack size, I snapped it up.What came is completely different, even though it is labeled virtually identically to my original bottle. It still claims to have alpha hydroxy acids. But! It is a thick, viscous fluid that goes on heavily and is greasy. It has an awful animal-like odor, not a delicate perfume fragrance like the original. Now I am stuck with 64 ounces of something that I don't even want to use on my feet! Not the same. Why oh why did they change it? 3Be very, very careful with this lotion. Be very, very careful with this lotion. I started using it at the beginning of the summer, and it is fine as far as moisturizer goes. However, this summer my skin has burned more frequently than ever--no matter what kind of sunblock I wore, or how frequently I put it on, or how little time I spent in the sun, I burned. Couldn't figure out why. I've gone through three different brands of sunblock, worn long sleeves and jeans, even curtailed my outdoor activities. It didn't occur to me that this lotion could be the cause of the problem until I happened to catch the "Sun Alert" on the back label (you can see it if you enlarge the label picture, which I didn't before buying it). Apparently it increases sensitivity to the sun for as much as a week after using it. Darned alpha-hydroxy acids. My own fault, I just think of body lotion as a pretty "safe" product to use--like shampoo or deodorant, I'm not eating it or smearing it on my eyeballs, so I usually feel pretty confident that I can get away without reading the safety warnings. Not so with this lotion. I shudder to think how much damage I have done to my skin in the few months that I've used it. No amount of softening can undo the UV damage, so the moisturizing aspect is a pretty poor tradeoff for the increased sun sensitivity. 1In love with this stuff, I won't use any other lotion I recommend this to everyone around me. I have really sensitive skin, even baby lotion irritates my skin. And tend to have eczema breakouts. I use this daily. Even when my skin is at its dryest, two uses of this and my skin is fine. I use this instead of a moisturizer on my face in the winter. It doesn't cause me to breakout. It's a really thick lotion. The first bottle I got I left it in my car during the summer for a few hours, it got so thick I had to add water and mix it to get it to pump. Be careful where you store it.I got my friend some to use after she got a tattoo on her ribs. Her tattoo healed really fast. We've even used it on a Chinese crested dog and saw great results after just a few days. 5It's back? I've loved this lotion (Maximum Dry Skin) for years. At first I loved it without reservation. Then, as many have pointed out, the formula changed. It still worked well in the sense of treating very dry skin, but it was waxier (both in texture and in smell), didn't rub in quite as well, and, most frustratingly, you could only get about 75% of the product out of the bottle. In 2014 I ordered 4 of the big 32 ounce sized bottles and one by one, I got about 75% finished and no more would pump out, like a too-thick milkshake. I even bought some of those bottle coupler things and the lotion sat upside down on top of another quarter-full bottle for weeks and STILL didn't move out of the bottle. Eventually I gave up and threw them away. I have used other lotions since then, but did purchase one of the smaller size when I was desperate. Again, waxy smell and feel, and 75% of the way through, I stopped being able to pump it.Cut to yesterday, it was on sale at Whole Foods so I picked up another quart, expecting to again only get to use three quarters of it, but being ok with that since it really works the best for my dry winter skin. But when I went to put it on after my shower, I was surprised that the texture was much looser (in a good way), and it rubbed in much easier than my previous bottle. I have only used it once, but I believe that this one will pump out all the way. Only giving four stars because I'm annoyed at the continued reformulations, but I'm optimistic that the right stuff is back!Photos showing: 1: new good bottle (left) vs old bad (this is how much product is left when I can no longer get any out), 2: batch codes for good (L) and bad (R) 3: was stabbing around with the straw trying to get some out and the holes just stay there. Made these more than 12 hours ago. So waxy. 4: textures (good L, bad R, way thicker, not in a good way) 4
