    My new go-to product! Most of the reviews on this product are actually pretty accurate. I've tried tons of bb's/cc's/tinted moisturizers trying to find the perfect everyday product. I don't like an overly-flawless look where my skin doesn't look like skin, I don't like the feel of heavy foundation, but I DO want my skin tone evened out, redness balanced, blemishes concealed, etc. I'm combination/oily and prone to breakouts, so MANY other products have been too greasy, broken me out, and melted off my face. The only other product that's worked well for me is Garnier miracle perfecting BB, BUT if you have fair skin like me then you know even the "light/medium" shade is too tan/dark to really work.I have to say, I think I found my near-perfect but as-good-as-it's-gonna-get product here.What I like:- lightweight but build-able- pretty decent staying power, I still look pretty good at the end of an 8 hour work day- doesn't break me out (yes!)- pretty good size bottle- color options!Side note, here. It definitely oxidizes quite a bit. When I initially ordered I was debating between the Light and the Light/Medium. I have more yellow undertones so I tend to find the tone of a more medium light is better for me. Considering the oxidizing factor I went with light and boy am I glad. When I put the light on straight out of the bottle it's a near perfect match for me, but throughout the day I start looking pretty tan. Not orangey or odd looking, just tan. Given that the rest of my body is very NOT tan, I decided to order a bottle of "lighter and light" and now I blend the two together for a great match. Lightest light is SUPER pale, pinky peach.. Probably only good for those with that porcelain doll pinkish skin. I attached a pic of the two colors for those who want to reference. Light is on the left and lighter than light on the right.What I don't love:- it definitely has a lot of sunscreen in it. If you have sensitive eyes, this product stings. I keep it away from my eyes and just use concealer in that area, but it wouldn't work well if you are sensitive and want to use it around your eye area.- it can be a little challenging to apply. I found that a beauty blender soaks up way too much product and wastes it. I tried a foundation brush (honestly I suck at using those) and couldn't get rid of streaky brush strokes. I now apply with my fingers and it works. I put a base layer on and then let it dry a bit before smoothing it out. Otherwise I feel like I'm just endlessly pushing the product around my face.- it takes a while to dry. I'm impatient so I pack on a setting powder so I can move forward with the rest of my makeup.Overall I really like the product and think I'll keep buying it! I actually think it's a pretty good value. So happy to have found it! 5This product won't disappoint! I don't usually find the time to write reviews, unless I feel the need to warn others about a bad product or (in this case) broadcast a review for a fantastic product. This tinted moisturizer spreads so nicely on your skin and the color was perfect for me (I'm half Irish, half Italian, but look more Irish; i.e. Fair skinned). It gives nice coverage - my freckles don't disappear, but my skin tone is nicely evened out. I was worried that it wouldn't give me enough moisturizing, as I have fairly dry skin, but it's been quite good. Also, I find SPF18 to be perfect for me, as I like to get a little bit of color from the sun. I highly recommend this product, and I'll definitely be reordering. 5Sent wrong color, but awesome product First off, the only negative is I ordered the light/medium and they sent me light. Being a more sheer product it should work ok for a few months while I'm hiding inside during hot florida summer months. But when it cools down a bit and I'm outside more, the light/medium will definitely be needed. This goes on lightweight but is buildable. It still let's my freckles shine thru which I like and is great on my combination sensitive skin. It doesn't give me a cakey look under my eyes our on my creases. It smells like sunscreen but I'm ok with that, I actually don't mind the smell. I tried 1/2 my face with this and a mineral veil powder on it and the other 1/2 my full coverage foundation powder. The 1/2 that had the veil on it lasted all day even thru sweating. I was impressed. While the side with the heavier foundation powder tended to cake and crease. So this really is all you need for hot days out! I will definitely be buying this again when I run out. And Amazon's price is definitely cheaper then sephora's. 5Great foundation substitute I was looking for a good foundation substitute. I was sick of putting on face lotion, waiting for it to dry then putting on messy powder that got all over my clothes. This is a great, fast substitute for even coverage. I just wash my face and spray a witch hazel toner and then apply this all over (don t forget eyelids or under the eye) and add a touch of blush for my daily look. It s natural looking and hydrating but it smooths my complexion, covers slight rednesss, and dries with a nice matte finish (but again not so much so that it s unnatural looking). My first tube has lasted me about 4-6 weeks. If I had to pick a negative, it would be that if I m wearing a big jacket or vest or something with a high collar it rubs off on my clothes easily and is hard to get out. 5but great for everyday moisture and SPF without being left feeling ... Not going to give you a large color correction, but great for everyday moisture and SPF without being left feeling greasy. Also stops those pesky questions of "are you tired?" and "are you feeling okay? you don't look so good." 4Perfect Texture, only wish SPF were higher This is one of my favorite BB creams. I prefer very light coverage with just enough color to even out my skin tone. That's exactly what this stuff does. The texture of it is light and non-greasy. It doesn't settle in lines or look like I'm wearing heavier makeup halfway through the day, which I love.The only downside is that the SPF is only 18, which is lower than the standard SPF 25 you normally find in tinted moisturizers & bb creams.I have fair/light skin, and I'll usually use a blend of the lighter than light and regular light shades to match my skintone.Sometimes, I'll blend the lighter than light with a darker BB cream from a different brand to get the right color/texture. 4NOT for sensitive/acne-prone skin! Update: I wanted so badly to love this product that I waited way too long before finally admitting to myself that it was the cause of the worst breakout I've had in years. My whole forehead was covered in white irritation pimples. They have gone down since I stopped using this three days ago, but my skin is taking a while to recover. This tinted moisturizer is NOT for sensitive, combination/acne-prone skin!This is the best tinted moisturizer I've used. It's the only one I've used that doesn't oxidize horribly or leave my skin looking shiny and melty at the end of the day. It's mattefying, although not super moisturizing. So, if you have dry skin, you'll probably need another moisturizer underneath it.Also, "lighter than light" is the perfect color for my fair skin. It's more pigmented than other tinted moisturizers I've used, so I think it's the perfect medium between full-coverage foundation, and going au naturel. 2IN LOVE I have pale Irish skin, so freckles and little sections of veins show because I m so pale (translucent ) so I wanted a good tinted moisturizer with SPF for the summer. I did research and decided this was the winner! I bought the lighter than light, and tested it as soon as it came. It s light weight and leaves my skin soft, I absolutely love this. 5Fair-Good coverage; a bit drying; overall, a decent value I bought this in my ongoing attempt to find a product to replace the foundation/sunscreen that I love (R e v i s i o n I n t e l l i s h a d e), which has doubled in price over the past year. At a certain price point, I'm out!Regarding the Balm Shelter, in its favor are: a) the range of shades for a variety of skin tones; b) price point (reasonable); and c) coverage (you won't look like a Kabuki actress wearing pancake makeup--it's natural looking and transparent but still covers uneven skin tone, superficial blotches and very minor blemishes); d) my skin and eyes become irritated and itchy with many foundations and lotions -- but this product was just fine for me.Disappointments: a) as others have noted, a higher SPF would make this an excellent year-round product; b) if your skin is mature or tends to be dry, you will need to put on a base layer of moisturizer and let it set before applying this product--it goes on smoothly and nicely, but over the course of hours it starts to feel "tight" and drying and it accentuates eye area wrinkles. If your skin is slightly oily, it might be a very good choice as-isi for you. c) the pun embedded into the name of the product is, to me, stupid (balm shelter, a play on bomb shelter. Meh.). Every time I look at the tube of product I feel a little annoyed by its name.Will consider buying again, but with reservations! And I will keep looking for the perfect product (that does not cost a mortgage payment). 3It doesn't look heavy I am very fair and was looking for a tinted moisturizer since I hate wearing foundation! Lucky for me, the least tinted moisturizer worked perfectly. It does NOT look heavy on my skin, although I do not use it on the wrinkles under my eyes. Perhaps it's because I wear glasses but no one has mentioned the skin around my eyes looking a different color than the skin that's got the tint on it. As a moisturizer I find it sub-par, so I just put my regular moisturizer on first and then use BalmShelter as a foundation. It's not a great concealer but it does help to even out my skin tone some. I wish it had a higher SPF rating since I am so fair. 4
