Customer Reviews

Very handy!I use this as my daily makeup bag, and it works really well. I don't wear a ton of make-up, but I wear some basics and I keep them all in the Lay-N-Go. I open it up and it's all there, ready to use, and when I'm done, I cinch it up and toss it in my bathroom drawer or in my gym bag, and it's done. One consideration is that if you wear liquid foundation, you may not want to keep it in the Lay-N-Go, because it will probably drip in it at some point. I am also a bit weary of the makeup pencil sharpener accidentally opening and spilling in it, and then it would be all over everything, but this hasn't happened yet after two weeks of use. It's that it's fairly bulky, and you just can't throw it in your handbag, because it doesn't really fit. Still, I like it and I feel it's made my life a bit easier, because I don't dig around my makeup drawer for my daily basics anymore, since they're in the bright green bag, and they don't roll off the counter because of the Lay-N-Go edges.4Love!I had bought 3 of these for my granddaughters and daughter....I decided it was time for me to have one also!Love the product, no more fishing around inside your make up case, this just opens up (you can keep sides up a little) and just look for what you need. The 20" size is great, I had bought before the 22" but to mee was a little big.Great quality. The only weird thing that I noticed with all of these is the very long drawstring after your cinch it up, but I looked at a few YouTube videos and they just roll it up around your fingers then insert into the small front pocket. Great invention!5I should have bought this a long time agao! This has been a morning changer for me. First of all, the bag itself is adorable. It's quite big and holds everything I need. I can bring it to whichever bathroom I am using in s hared household. Opening it up means I am not rummaging through a makeup bag and maybe missing what I'm looking for: everything is spread out in front of me. There is a small pocket on the outside with velcro and then a zipper pocket inside, so I can store things in there to keep them separate, or if they are small and I don't want them to fall out. I cannot recommend this bag enough.5I love my cosmetic bagI love my cosmetic bag. It does indeed allow you to spread out your makeup for good visibility. I wish the drawstring was a little shorter. Of course, you can always cut some of it off if you need to. I tied a knot in the cord so when opening it, I can pull open quickly until it reaches the knot (that might sound complicated, but when you see it you'll understand). I plan to purchase a few more as gifts for my friends and have them monogrammed. Love 'em!5Silver Shows Stains, But Washes CleanI use this for my daily makeup. It folds out & stays tightly closed if I need to take my makeup bag with me. The silver shows makeup stains, but they wipe off with a wet wash cloth & a light scrub. It actually comes clean (as you can see in the picture) compared to other makeup bags & the lining is durable!4Holds everything, but...It holds everything, but I can't seem to get it tight enough to close the gap at the top. The material gets too thick when I pull the strings to tighten it.I was in a tiny hotel room and the only spot I had to put my stuff was on the toilet seat, so this was a godsend.4Easy!I was tired of fumbling around in my cosmetic case and saw this. I was skeptical, but...WOW! On my recent two week trip to Europe, with constant laying out and packing up, this item was wonderful. I could find what I wanted quickly, right away. Packing up was just a matter of pulling the drawstring. At first I wasn t sure about changing to this bag, but now I could not do without it.5Great packing tool! Saves time and keeps me from over-packing!I really love this! I'm terrible at packing for a getaway--even just for a weekend. I laid this out the night before we left, put all of my makeup stuff in it, and then worked from the bag to get ready the next day. This helped me realize what I was missing or what I didn't really need. When it was time to go, I simply drew it shut and shoved it in my luggage. At the hotel, I commandeered a corner of the bathroom vanity and opened this up to use my products. When we were ready to the leave the room, I didn't have to worry about hotel staff maybe messing around in my stuff because I drew it shut and hid it away.No fumbling or digging around--it's all laid out there for me. Very convenient. Now, it's not watertight--if something opens up, it's going to spill. There's no way around that, unless you shove the whole thing inside a huge ziploc bag. But so far, I've found no other bag that is truly watertight. I didn't spill anything, but I did wipe it down when I was done, and it dried up quickly.5Exactly what I needed. This bag is exactly what it claims: a washable cosmetic bag that converts into an easily transportable handled clutch. I can spread out my cosmetics on its clean surface as desired. It stays dry, and both the lip and the fact that it's not a smooth hard surface prevent my things from rolling onto the floor.Inside of the bag are a small pocket and an elastic band. I'm not sure why the elastic band isn't in all of Amazon's product images, but the elastic band did come with my Ocean Blue version and easily holds things like my brushes and my tweezers. The Lay-n-Go's material is washable, at least for the normal stuff I have spilled on it (eyeshadow, foundation, lotion, etc). Cleaning instructions are sewn into the outer velcro pocket. After each use, I'm able to simply pull the drawstring and the surface folds up into a clutch again.I've included a picture of it folded and laying flat so you can get an idea of how much I've stuffed into it. Note that I also keep the little containing bag with me that the Lay-n-Go comes with just in case I need to further contain a mess since it isn't a 100% tight seal. That said, I've never needed to do it since I have been able to wipe off all of the messes I've made.Photos:- Lay-n-Go with a bunch of stuff on it just to give you an idea of the surface area- Lay-n-Go with everything centered for folding up (can't really fit the brush and the contact lens solution in there when I fold it up without it being too open, but I usually stow the solution in a Ziplock anyway)- Lay-n-Go folded up (yes all that stuff really is in there)- Containing bag the Lay-n-Go comes in, just in case you want to use yours for something too.- Location of the cleaning instructions5This is exactly what I was looking forI used to keep my makeup in a gallon Ziploc so I could always find what I needed. I almost never put makeup on at home--I'm either in a car or at work. Using the Ziploc was a pain because I couldn't put things somewhere else after I used them so they'd be out of the way. This mat is the perfect solution--everything's laid out so I can pick and choose what I need. The only caveat: Don't put small Items on top when you're closing the drawstring--you can't close it all the way, so I lost a couple of small brushes before I realized you just have to put something bigger on top. Once you know that it's really easy and quick. The green is always easy to find no matter what I'm carrying to work that day.5A real space saver for your cosmetics and non-digging to see all your stuff at onceI was skeptical before buying this but I'm now a big fan of these bags and even use them for other then cosmetic items..I've bought three of them now and have been impressed. That having been said, I will provide a pros and cons herePros:1. Big space saver, there is no compartments to divide things and everything is bunched up together...hence, it makes sense that it would save a lot of space.2, Can be put in a small bag or purse without too much notice. Considering how much cosmetic cases often cost (and even purses), the price really isn't that much.3, Very discreet and attractive if it has to be carried outside a purse or cosmetic organizer4. When opened, you can immediately see everything at once, making it easy to decide what to use at any moment. Nothing is hidden and everything is protected from falling all over the counter.Cons:1. If you are going to put it in a luggage for travel, make sure it not only is cinched, but is knotted after bunching it so it doesn't come undone 2. Don't put anything that has a lot of fluid in it, such as some moisturizers that has pump action on them. 3. If you are sure that some skin care items will stay put and won't "bleed" (like some jars), it'll be fine, but if you're not, this is not the bag for it.However, considering how much space most women's cosmetics take up in a purse, this bag is perfect. It'll fit perfectly in some toiletry bags and be fine with a lot of extra space left over for other things (for most toiletry bags). "Necessity is the mother of invention" and the person that thought this thing up was on to something5Ripped after less than a month of useI bought this for a trip abroad where I knew I wouldn't have a lot of space to lay all of my makeup out. I would have gladly given this product five stars, it made my life a lot easier. Once I was done with my makeup I could just cinch up the bag. Unfortunately, I discovered a pretty big tear in my bag today which is really sad. I have barely had the product for a month and I did not treat the bag harshly or throw it around or anything like that. I was planning on recommending the bags to my friends who also travel but now I'm hesitant to do so in case their bag rips too.1Love this Bag Great travel bag---I travel extensively and wanted to be able to keep my makeup in an "everyday" bag at home that also travels easily. No more changing makeup bags. This is big enough for my essentials, it travels well but I recommend that it's just good sense to put 'liquids" in a zip lock separate from this. I take this bag in the car, to the gym and in my suitcase. LOVE IT! 5Not a toy -- life changing for a traveling man! (and at home)And certainly not a toy.As a traveling man, this "Cosmetic Bag" has changed my life, not only on the road but also at home. A fellow on Boing Boing's Useful Tools site suggested it, and I am very glad to report that after two months, one month traveling to Venice, Croatia, and Paris and one month at home and on short trips to New York City, my life is much more secure and peaceful -- no more forgetting essentials when I walk out the door. The bag opens to a circle about 22 inches with a one inch high "rim" made of the same fabric which is sufficient to hold in smaller items, like keys and small change. The life changer has been to use this bag every single day to put in often used objects -- using it at home has made it part of my life (it takes me about 40 repetitions to makes a new behavior into a habit). It's amazing how much fun it is to see everything I'm carrying except clothes in one place -- grab the stuff that goes in pockets, tie up the bag, into my back pack on the road or leave it on the counter at home -- and I'm good to go.A few comments:-- It weighs only a few ounces, nothing compared to its convenience.-- Provides a clean and contained surface; things really stay put and cannot roll off the table.-- Inside zipper pocket great for a Xerox of my passport, credit and other cards not often used, emergency money and a blank check, business cards, a few self sealing plastic bags, etc.-- The black version doesn't show dirt and it is easy to keep clean. Some models apparently have washing instructions that were not included in mine; hand washing in cool water, and then drying either on the counter or on tumble cool dry makes it look good as new.-- Tough fabric -- pens and a small knife did not pierce the fabric.-- The drawstring doesn't close the bag completely. It's possible for small items to fall out but I found two fixes. First, put something, a small notebook, my passport, on top of the pile and pull the strings closed. Two, run the longish strings around the bag to cinch it, then tie a simple knot over the hole; the remaining strings are about 12 inches long and make a great way to carry the bag outside my backpack or suitcase.-- I put liquid or breakable objects like pills in self closing baggies to prevent them from leaking in case of breakage; a supply of four to six baggies in the zippered compartment takes up no space.-- There may be cheaper alternatives, but I really enjoy the feel of the fabric, the look of the bag either open or closed, and the great workmanship of not only the fabric and the stitching but how well the strings hold the bag together.-- I also have a checklist of the stuff I'm carrying just to be sure. At the moment, here's what's there on my kitchen counter ready for me to leave the house: passport, car key, house and post office box key, small knife, notebook, two pens, small bottle of cleanser, tooth brush and paste from Air France, two combs, small bottle of essence of lavender, pack of Tums, cell phone, cell phone charger cord and wall plug, three quarters and a 50 kona piece from Croatia.-- In the zipper compartment: color Xerox of passport, medical information and personal contacts, business cards, $100 in small bills, twenty Euros in small bills, library card, two museum cards, cord and connections to transfer photos from iPhone to computer, USB flash drive.Pricey, maybe, but a great way to organize and simplify my life. On the road, it takes me less than five minutes to pack and go, and less than a minute to check for everything before walking out the door. At home, it's even less -- phone, keys, billfold -- they are all in the same place every single day.Robert C. RossJune 20145
