Customer Reviews

I'm so happy to have found this stuffI'm so happy to have found this stuff! I have very fair skin and my favorite foundation is matte - I prefer a dewy finish but with my oily skin, I can't use foundation without a setting powder. Most highlighters I've used end up having a little too much color in them and look like I over-blushed my face OR they have little glitter flecks that make me look like a disco ball or vampire from Twilight. This one is translucent and just adds a little dewy glow. It's very subtle, which I prefer. It's also buildable, so if you're looking for that super glow, this will still work for you.Excuse the weird face in the photo :P5great colorIt highlight perfectly. I use it on my chicks and the tip on my nose.5Awesome HighlighterBest highlighter I've ever used, so I stick to it! Gives a great glow, summer, winter, spring and fall. LOVE IT and people always ask me what highlighter I'm wearing.5Inexpensive highlighterExceeded my expectations. I have always liked this brand, it's skin friendly and has great ideas. I ordered the beige pearl shade, and it's phenomenal. Shimmery, glowy, a touch of warmth. Perfect over bronzer or on the lid and inner corner of the eye. I liked it also near the Cupid's bow, and just a delicate dusting over the chin. Smooth formula. Will buy more shades. Nicely done P F.5Theres a thin coating on top that needs to be removed to get to the shimmer!!Ok so when I first tried it I wasnt impressed. It just wasnt fine enough of a shimmer. But after a few days I realized there is a thin coat of glitter over the top of the product. This must have something to do with the way it settled when it was being manufactured, I dont really know. But basically, I took the included brush and dusted off the top and blew off the excess powder and now I am left with a super finely milled shimmer which is a perfect hilight. I included a photo of a brand new hilight next to a hilight where i have dusted off that layer of grainy glitter. The first Photo is a side by side where you can clearly see how glittery and cheap the brand new hilighter on the left (with the coating still on it) looks. The hilighter on the right has been dusted of that top layer, and it is a nice beautiful shimmer. The second photo is a closeup of the used hilighter after the coating has been removedThe third photo is a closeuup of the grainy glitter coating on the new hilighter5DisappointingI usually LOVE Physician's Formula (their eye boosting serum liquid liner is legit). However, I purchased this under the impression it could be used as a highlighter - and honestly it looks great on a lot of the review photos! However, on my very fair skin it barely showed. Not very luminous and not much of a "glow" achieved. I had to layer and layer and layer and layer to get any sort of effect. I tried the brush included but also tried finger application and my own highlighter brush but could not get a great effect. I ended up tossing it and going back to my Well People highlighter even though I don't love the cream stick. If someone is just looking for a powder texture product to swipe all over the face for a blurring and translucent effect they might like this.2#thathighlightthoAt first, i wasn't so sold on this product. The top layer has a lot of glitteriness to it, which I was not a fan of at all... but once you get past the very thin top layer, you get to the actual glow with little to no glitter. You do NOT need a alot of this product to achieve the type of highlight that most people aim for. One, maybe two light sweeps of my fan brush across the top and I achieved the picture look.I don't see this lasting ALL day, unless you use some sort of setting spray, but it is cheap enough that I'm fine with reapplying-- especially when you take into account the amount you get and the amount you actually need per application.I'm not an expert at all, but I'd say this product does a great job at blending out without having to spend a lot of time doing it. The lines weren't that harsh to begin with when I used my fan brush to apply, but for what I did blend out, it was a few swipes and bing bam boom blended out. Please pardon the brows. Apparently I suck today lol5Absolutely perfect, blows Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder away for a fraction of the price!I'm snuggling up to 40 and my skin was looking dull and a bit sad after a long dark winter. I was looking for a powder with a bit of magic (ok shimmer) that I could apply quickly to my bare face to look a bit more alive, or put over my foundation for an even more finished but awake look. I watched 101 videos online and read lots of reviews and actually ordered the Hourglass powder with one of my Sephora hauls. I tried it about 5x and every single time I died a bit inside... I couldn't see ANY difference, not a tiny speck of a difference. I wanted it to work so badly but ended up returning it. I've used Physicians Formula products in the past (they are one of the few drugstore brands I really like) so I next tried a gorgeous palette of theirs I saw in the store "multicolored custom bombshell bronzer" I about died again when I tested it at home, my entire face was COVERED in very noticeable silver glitter, I was looking for something that made a difference, but not that big of a difference! I wanted something that gave my face a bit of life and this was like a fairy dusted my face in a very bad way.I almost gave up but saw some references to this powder online. I figured I'd give finding my holy grail product one more chance and ordered it. I tested it as soon as it arrived and WOOHOO, exactly what I was looking for. I purchased it in Beige Pearl and it gives just the right amount of light reflecting soft shimmer but no glitter. It pretty much disappears on my face whether I'm bare faced or have on foundation/blush in that it's not a noticeable color, it just makes my face look brighter and me more awake/lively! I'm considering purchasing one of the darker colors to see if it gives me natural sun kissed look on days I just want to toss on some tinted sunblock and go. If you've been disappointed with other products give this one a try, the price here on Amazon is great too!5Terrible waste of money.LOVED this when it first arrived. I used it and it gave my face that amazing shimmery glow I was looking to get. However, once the first layer of shimmer has been used in the pan, there is ZERO shimmer left, just a beige/pink powder! So it becomes completely useless as a highlighter, which is what I bought it for.Tossed it is the garbage, as I have no use for yet another powder. What a waste of money!!Elf bakes highlighter is 100 times better and MUCH cheaper than this piece of you-know-what... very unfortunate :(1Tips for a Natural LookI like this product. My concerns about its possibly being glittery or changing the color of my skin were unwarranted. I like my makeup to look as natural as possible, and this works for me.My advice for people wanting a natural look: First, apply it with a light hand to a dry face. A little of this goes a long way, and I suspect that the people who complained of glitter and too much color either had too heavy a hand or were applying to a moist surface. I tried using this directly on top of foundation, and it made me understand the negative reviews. So now I use a tiny amount of loose powder on a puff to "blot" my face. The drier surface makes all the difference in the world. Second, if you are (as I am) fair-skinned, do not assume that you should use the translucent. My own experience is that translucent formulations in makeup tend to make me look even whiter and foster a mask-like appearance. The taupe or the bronze, if lightly applied to skin that is not moist, may look more natural and, well, more translucent than the translucent. Third, if you will use this product all over your face, use a larger brush because the results will look more natural; save the brush that came with the compact to use the product for blush or contouring. It's the right size for those. And by the way: I'm using this as eye shadow, too. I run my eyeshadow applicator over the compact and apply it, and the effect is very good for someone with "warm" tones, which is definitely the case with me. I hadn't intended to use it this way--I have plenty of eye shadow--but some years ago I used an Estee Lauder bronzer precisely for this purpose, and so I decided to give this a try. The product is perfect for eyeshadow. So, I use it in three ways with three different brushes and in amounts that vary according to their purpose. Using the product this way seems to create a fully coordinated look that is natural and fresh. (But again, I'm speaking of my experience as someone with warm tones; people of color or people with "cool" tones may need to take a different approach entirely.)5Great Highlight, Great buyI really like Physician's Formula's products. I have collected and experimented with many makeup products and brands that I find Physician's Formula to be in my top 5 favorite brands. I use this product to highlight the tops of my cheeks up to my temples. It does not come off as glittery, but more so shimmery and sheen. I love this mineral glow compact, because it just shows off my round cheeks perfectly and gives my face a nice glow. The product consistency is not chalky and does not crumble. I take a fan brush or a small tapered brush and swirl it around the compact a few times and brush the product gently on my face. I have been using this product for over a year (weekly) and I love it! I am getting near the end of my product and will repurchase soon. Overall, great buy!5
