    Five Stars Wonderful. 5Pat's revirew I love the soap and have been using this for years. I'm having a hard time buying it as I use to get it from Bonsavon but I think they are no longer in business. 5Sage is really unisex, not too manly. But it is different in its square shape. I've tried many Pre de Provence bar soaps, and notice differences between these three offered on this product page and the traditional quad-milled Pre de Provence bars: These bars contain more shea butter, I think. They are a bit softer in texture and the lather is oh! so! creamy. These soaps are pure white (which is a big difference from the traditional soaps colored to somewhat match their fragrance). And they have defined corners, rather than curved edges. Their fragrances seem to be a little more delicate also.The men's sage bar has another difference that prompted a discussion in our house about how one applies their soap in the shower: Notice that its shape is square, about 3"x3"x1 1/4". My husband said he loved it, but found it difficult to hold and use. I thought, "He did?" Which prompted a "Why?" I use a wash cloth or a mitt, running the soap bar over one or the other to build a lather, then placing the bar back in its dish. My husband holds the bar in his hand and runs the bar over his skin. So, be aware, the soap is a little awkward to grip and if you run the bar over your skin, those points can be uncomfortable. (My husband has switched to a thin wash cloth in order to make the most of this luscious bar of sage-fragranced soap.)Personally, I love this sage fragrance, too. Shame that some people will pass it by simply because it says "Men's" in the title. I think it's unisex, and it is my favorite of the three fragrances. The scent is much more than the usual herbal sage. It has a bright, almost lime-y edge to it that gives it a lot of allure.The lavender fragrance has a gentle potency, with floral, herbal and spicy notes. The "Original" fragrance is hard to describe: Floral and perfume-y is the best I can come up with. The Original would make a nice gift for someone if you don't know their tastes in fragrance. It seems to be a little of everything.All three lather nicely (we have soft water) and lather rinses off easily. Skin is left feeling soft and smooth as one towels off. 5Favorite companies...I am a fan of Shea butter soaps.. Especially Pre de Provence bar soaps are a winner! The package is rather small 150 grams so it's closer to a 4oz size of soap and the Lavender scent is rather faint in nature.My bar arrived on time and it wasn't damaged neither.This must be a limited edition brand because I bought it on a whim..?5Comparison between L'Occitane and Pre de Provence Hand creamsPre de Provence 20% Shea Butter Hand Cream, Verbena, 1-Ounces TubeI had been using L'Occitane 20% Shea butter, which is quite expensive soI thought I'd try the Pre de Provence hand cream. I have Raynaud'sSyndrome so my fingertips are always cracked and dry. The Pre deProvence cream at half the price, was almost as good as the L'Occitane.I will buy it again.4Price is reasonable By far my favorite soap. It is smooth , creamy, and leaves your skin hydrated and soft. 5Wonderful lavender fragrance, and rich, creamy textureThis thick cream does not feel greasy, and the lavender fragrance is the true spicy aroma of good quality lavender essential oil. It is a bit pricey for the amount, which will limit how much I use it, but I am very happy with the product. I used it in combination with cotton gloves overnight to maximize the moisturizing effect on my hands, and the pleasant lavender fragrance had the added benefit of helping me sleep.5Smells great, not at all greasy, and makes my hands baby soft!I usually use body lotion on my hands but bought this because I wanted to try a hand cream instead - hoping it would be less greasy. I have been using this for about a month now and it makes a world of difference! This cream makes my hands baby soft. It rubs in quickly and doesn't leave my hands the least bit greasy. Plus the smell is amazing. My mom loves lavender so I've smelled my fair share of lavender products and this one is just subtle and flowery enough without being too sweet or overpowering. I recommend this product!Update:I am on my 2nd tube and ready to buy my 3rd. This is my favorite hand cream. The smell isn't too strong but is pleasant. It rubs in perfectly and doesn't leave any grease. No other product compares - it's worth the price.5Love the scent It's kind of a linen/fresh/powdery scent. The bar lasted months. When this Pr de Provence Sage Soap came up for review options in Amazon Vine, I bit. It would be nice to have a moisturizing soap for the upcoming cooler days when skin gets windblown and dry.Here's what I liked and didn't about this large bar soap PROS:+ Is sized big from the pics attached you can see this 200 gram chunky block of soap dwarfs a quarter and is almost twice the size of the typical 3.75 oz. bar soap most Americans are used to+ Has a nice aroma that lingers and is strangely familiar (see CONS below)+ Lathers nicely, whether used on a washcloth or held+ Holds up due to harder milling, so it should last fairly long+ Imparts good moisturizing effects, as my skin felt smooth and supple, but without any greasy feeling+ Works surprisingly well on hair, a fail for most other soaps but which this one left clean, soft, clear of residue, and with good volume+ "Made in France" is a nice change of pace for a toiletry item pitched to menCONS:- Is awkward to hold due to its halved-cube shape and to its size- Contains ingredients that lean more "chemical" than "natural"- Contains no sage in the ingredient list, despite the name on the label (though rosemary IS listed)- Contains coumarin, a controversial, naturally occurring, fragrance agent that divides many on its toxicity- Expected a manly aroma of woods/earth/sage but instead got one almost indistinguishable from Irish Spring- Lacks an "artisanal soap" essence that really sets it apart as an experience different from your typical, industrially made soap- Priced high with an MSRP of around $7, this is competing against 6-8-packs of regular bar soapWhile there's no doubt that this is a quality bar soap, it doesn't seem unique enough to tempt me to buy it, especially since it's about three to four times as expensive as your typical supermarket soap. If the aroma were more unusual (or even just more like the sage the label says it is) or it addressed some skin condition common to men, I might be able to justify it more. That said, it comes out just OK. 3Five Stars Liked it enough to start a subscribe and save for it 5Lavender fragrance is wonderful!OMG I'm in love! This is a huge tub of lotion and a little goes a long way. Although only 10% shea butter this is a thick, long lasting body butter that leaves your skin soft and smooth. The lavender fragrance is a bit strong to begin with but quickly fades to just right. The lavender fragrance itself is sublime! A little on my hands in the AM and anytime I need a quick destress, a nice smell of my hands helps to relax me. This product far exceeded my expectations and I'll be adding it to my pile of other much loved Pre de Provence products.5Luxurious!I bought this for use at the gym. The lavender feels good on the muscles after working out. Also, after getting out of the pool water, the high amount of shea butter in this bar is very moisturizing. Although I have trouble with 'artificially scented' products, the natural lavender oil in this soap has not been a problem for me.5Great non greasy creamGreat cream ! I was looking for a replacement since my old favorite is no longer made. I wash my hands a ton all day every day and was looking for something that stuck around but wasn't heavy or greasy. This does the job ! I am in the restaurant business so probably wash my hands 30 plus times during the day at work alone so between cold weather and constant washing I needed a good cream. This provides a nice softening and keeps my hands from cracking. Will be purchasing again.Pleasant light fragrance that so subtle it just smells fresh herbs.5Five Stars The best soap in the world.good service from seller. 5Five Starsreally really love it. it moisturizes my skin.5Nice Touch of Europe This is a nicely scented detergent informally referred to as a 'soap'. Most bath soaps are really detergents which is a positive especially in areas with hard water.Liking or not liking scent is highly subjective. I detest most of them and all perfumes, but I find this this soap's smell to be all right. It persists a bit on you too so you walk around for a while after a shower smelling like it which isn't bad. As to cleaning performance, it works.I got sold on hard milled soaps a few years ago when reading that a certain European nation's citizens use only 2 bars of bath soap a year implying they were dirty compared to US citizens who go through half a dozen bars. I looked into it finding the hard milled European soaps simply last longer per bar than US commercial products. I switched and have been happy in doing so.Bottom line: I like this product and, unusual for me, its scent as well. 4Excellent hand cream . Subtle scent and works on even my rough cuticles. RecommendI had found a similar type of hand cream when I was in the South of France and wasn t able to find a replacement here. The one I had was lavender scented and came in a tin tube, definitely old school design. This brand PreProvence looks very similar , also comes in the tin tube . It s a thick cream and the scent I bought NaturalShea Butter or Buerre deKarate smells divine. It smells fresh and not flowery. I LOVE it and will continue to buy it on Amazon Subscription.5HUGE bar-smells clean and calmingI can't believe how large this bar of soap is. I've set it up for Subscribe & Save, and think I will try to cut it in half from now on. It's hard to hold onto while you wait for it to get smaller. I don't like overpowering or flowery scents. This is not either of those. It smells clean, and it makes me calm when I inhale the scent. I walk into my bathroom, and there is a light scent in the air. It makes my skin feel good. I also use it on my face. It's kinda amazing.5Nice, cream--awful tubeThe hand cream itself is very nice. What I dislike (no, detest is better) is the tube in which it comes. It is awkward to handle, difficult to squeeze out just the amount you want, and impossible to completely empty when you get to the bottom of the tube. (I can imagine someone with even a touch of arthritis trying to use this and I feel for them.) Too much of the cream is wasted when you can't get the last of it out. And as you squeeze and roll it down in the process of using it, the tube becomes an ugly little eyesore wherever you put it. Top that off with the fact that it is made of metal, which I have to presume is primarily aluminum--which probably is absorbed into the cream and thence into one's skin--I just can't find any reason to like it. I have resorted to emptying a tube (as much as possible!) into a little jar that some other cosmetic previously came in, thereby dealing all at once with the difficulty of handling the stiff metal tube, and providing a much easier means of accessing it as needed. But that still doesn't rid it of the aluminum it probably already absorbed. So, no matter how nice the cream is (and yes, it is very nice), I won't use it again. Someone should tell the manufacturer that they need to use a plastic tube or, better yet, a small jar.1Not for busy moms.This is a beautiful creamy soap, but is probably best as a hand soap, unless you use a bath sponge or a facecloth in the bath or shower (hence the 4 star rating). It is a bit large and far too hard and sharp-edged to use directly on your body, and because of its creaminess, it takes longer to wash off. As a mom of three, I don't have time for such luxuries, and it felt like I was washing my body with the handle of a shoe brush (though my skin felt and smelled lovely). Not for me.4Smells like baby powderI got the lavender scented lotion. This stuff is NOTHING like l'occitane. I had been looking for a replacement for the l'occitane since it is $24 and was excited by the reviews of this stuff. This stuff is thick, barely smells like lavender, and smells like old lady baby powder. It does moisturize normal dry skin. I have not seen it work on my dried cracked areas. I will not be purchasing this stuff again. I would much rather spend twice as much to get a better product that smells good and lasts longer. With this stuff, I have to put it on multiple times a day. Whereas with the l'occitane, a couple times a day and I'm fine.2Lovely-Moisturizing CreamThis cream is lovely! I really love the verbena scent and the way it moisturizes my hands. It leaves my hands very moisturized, yet not greasy at all. The moisture lasts and I can tell a difference when I use it. I just bought this as a gift for a friend as it is not overpriced as some creams are and it comes in nice package. The box is pretty and I love the metal tube it comes in as well. It kind of has an old fashioned flair but is so modern with it's natural ingredients.5
