I spent a lot of time on amazon hoping and trying to find the real shea butter from sellers. some sellers tell you their shea butter is the real one but when you buy it and it reaches you, it's totally different from what they said. am an African, born in Ghana, west Africa. Ghana is where to find the real shea butter it's the best. so i know what a real shea butter looks like and you can't fool me. the real shea butter is a white color not the yellow color. (although the yellow is picked in different season and sometimes some people add palm oil to it) a real shea butter is suppose to be white. when my shea butter arrived, it was exactly what is shown in the picture and as described. I was very happy. its a lot of shea butter in a big container and can last me for a long time. I mix my shea butter with natural oils for my hair as am in a hair transitioning (from relax to natural hair) and I can say this shea butter will last me for a long time. I will definitely purchase from this seller again.5Great stuffThis stuff is greats. It smelled like usual shea butter. I used it to make some whipped shea for myself and my mom. She loves it as well. I also use it as is and rub it on my body and face. My skin was sooooooo soft.5This is NOT Shea Butter GROSS!I had to return this. Smells like chemicals, green and extremely greasy. This was my first time purchasing shea butter, but from everything I've researched about shea butter (I researched for months before I decided to make a purchase), the shea butter sent to me by the currently-listed seller, smellgood, is the real deal! What I received is exactly what is pictured in the product listing's picture. It is a whitish/yellow-tinged butter. The color was very important to me. I didn't want the butter to be stark white, as that indicates that it's refined and has lost some of the properties that make shea butter so amazing. I also didn't want the butter to be deep or mustard yellow, either, because I believe that this kind of butter is either Kpagnan butter/African butter (which is often sold here in the West as "Yellow Shea Butter") or shea butter that contains dyes or other additives. Not what I'm looking for! The color of the shea butter I received gives me confidence that it is true, unrefined shea butter (though there's no way to know if it's truly "organic" as claimed, since it isn't certified organic).I was especially happy to see that my butter came in a plastic container. After reading many of the reviews on other shea butter listings, I was expecting to receive a big lump of butter in a plastic bag, which is pretty tacky if you ask me, since storing it that way can be messy due to the fact that it starts melting at a certain temperature. I can store this shea butter in the container in which it arrived. I was also very happy with the quality of the shea butter itself. Based on the comments of other reviewers of shea butter, I was prepared to smell a somewhat stinky, nutty scent when I opened the container, but the smell didn't actually bother me. It smells mildly of Play-Doh or crayon. My niece said it smelled like dog treats. Either way, while it's not a pleasant scent, I don't think it stinks, either.The texture of the butter is very grainy in its natural state, but it melts very quickly when it comes in contact with skin (I've had it melt right on my fingertip) and leaves it feeling very moist and nourished! Once it's on the skin, it does feel greasy/oily at first, but it eventually absorbs completely into the skin and leaves no residue. The scent also fades and becomes very faint on the skin. (Note: The key to avoiding greasy/oily skin with shea butter is to avoid being heavy-handed. A little goes a long way). I do not use the shea butter alone, though. I make it into a cream using carrier and essential oils, which I then use as a skin and hair cream. (I use it on my face, as well. Shea butter is not comedogenic and ranks 0 on a scale of 0 to 5 - with a ranking of 0 meaning that a substance will not clog pores). I was already using oils on my hair and skin, but the addition of the shea butter has certainly made both my hair and skin more moist, supple, and soft. I will be coming back for this shea butter for as long as the quality continues!5Very unpleasant smell.First off, this is a great price for the amount and the texture was smooth and creamy. I was expecting a more ivory color, but I received a very yellow/gray brick. Color isn't too horribly important, but I wish it was more ivory than yellow. My biggest issue is the smell. It is SO strong. It's a very musty, unpleasant smell. Even after doubling the amount of essential oils for my foot cream recipe, all I can smell is the musty, playdoh smell. Because of that, I probably wouldn't buy again. It is a great price though.2Love love loveThis stuff is wonderful. I have never ordered shea butter before. I was looking for a more natural way to take care of my hands. In the winter time they get so dry they will crack and bleed. Im not a huge fan of putting all those chemicles on my skin especially when i have open cracks.Anyway, i ordered this not knowing what to expect. It arrived fast. It came in a plastic container and its nice and hard. It does not smell amazing but i mixed it with some coco butter and coconut oil and i cant smell the shea butter at all just the chocolate coconut mix. Love that! My hands have been so much happier with me since i started useing this shea butter. I feel its a good product.5BewareI gave this product two stars because I previously bought African black soap from this seller and was pleased. However, after trying their Shea butter I was dissatisfied. After melting it down, I was surprised to find tiny little bugs in it. Also part of the block of Shea butter has a weird grayish color to it2working just like I thoughtI really like this Shea Butter so far. I purchased it to help with stretch marks so I won't see if it helps till a few more months. I make sure to apply it over moist skin as a way to lock in the moisture. I like how it seals. I will say it does not leave my skin smooth and silky like processed lotions but it does make my skin feel moisturized. I can tell I have product on my skin which some people don't like. I'd rather use something natural though and feel it on my skin verses something fake that absorbs. The product has a nice smell and doesn't smell rotten or burnt. I am very pleased with this product.5worked for my homemade lotion Maybe my mistake in ordering this particure product but in the past the Shea Butter I have ordered came in a plastic container. This came in a tall zip-lock bag in various sized pieces and chunks like the picture shows which made it a pain to remove from the bag as it gets all over your hands. Plus some pieces were so big I had to break or cut them into smaller pieces getting it all over my hands which is not easy to clean off. It still worked for making the homemade lotion I make but I much prefer my shea butter in a package that makes it easier to handle or scoop out. 4and I'm glad I didI am surprised by this product and the quality. I read the reviews and thought I was taking a risk, and I'm glad I did. This butter came packaged in double ziplock baggies and was placed into a larger box. The smell was not strong and a normal pleasant shea butter odor. The color was the normal "off white" color that ivory shea butter comes in. I weighed this product, and the weight was 33oz instead of the promised 32. I'm not complaining! :)The pictures you see:1. The block it came as2. A section of the inside of the block3. I will be ordering this again!5Creamy, convenient shea butterShea butter has so many different uses so I always like to have some on hand. I ordered this one because I used the last of what I had. Even though I shouldn't need any for quite a while, I hate not having any on hand. This Shea butter is perfect to use in my hair care recipes. It would also be a wonderful addition to skin care products as well. It's soft and creamy which makes it easy to mix and blend. I really like the rich nutty scent of Shea butters. Because this butter is so smooth it's fantastic for quick recipes or just rubbing it into your skin.5Don't believe the naysayersThis stuff is amazing, but it is raw shea butter. I see a lot of reviews whining that it's not ivory enough or dirty looking. Shea butter is a natural product and will not have a perfect uniform color unless it's been processed and altered. If you want to real deal, with all its healing properties, you have to suck it up and accept that natural items are not pristine. Mine came in two blocks, one is a more a greenish grey color, the other is a yellow ivory color. Both are phenomenal. I melted down the green one and triple filtered it through cheesecloth - this did not alter the color (and it really didn't need it - I just like filtering my shea butter). I have mixed a portion of it into a beard balm I make for my husband, and used the rest for a moisturizer I use daily. The price is awesome for the quality of the product. I will definitely be reordering!5
